Gene has been certified by the USPTR for over 15 years. He has worked with all levels of players, including nationally ranked juniors as well touring level players. He taught at the well-known Saddlebrook Tennis Resort in Tampa, Florida, where he worked with the academy level juniors aspiring to succeed on the professional tennis circuit. While there, Gene was a regular hitting partner for many of today’s touring professionals. He worked specifically with Marlene Weingartner of Germany and her coach, helping Weingartner achieve a career high world ranking of 32. As a Senior Coach, he worked closely with the students, preparing them for competitive tournament play and breaking down stroke mechanics to improve their performance. Gene then moved back home to Maryland where he became Director of Junior Academies at West Winds. His love of teaching and love of the game allows him to relate to all students on both a professional and personal level. His intensity, enjoyment, and understanding of tennis inspires his students to achieve their highest potential.
